Dear Visitors,

On 4th October 2013 in Lidzbark Warmiński was held 5th Business Forum of Baltic and Eastern Markets. The event was organized by Warmia and Mazury Regional Development Agency JSC. The event was held under the patronage of the Marshal of Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodsip Mr Jacek Protas.

The team of Warmia and Mazury Regional Development Agency in Olsztyn gladly informs that 5th Business Forum of Baltic and Eastern Markets attracted over 180 participants.

Among our guests were almost 40 representatives of foreign enterprises from Kaliningrad Oblast of Russian Federation and Lithuania, 60 entrepreneurs from Warmia and Mazury and almost 30 representatives of local government units, who participated in conferences  and matchmaking sessions B2B and B2P.

Main theme of this year’s Forum was „Partnership, cooperation, integration - for economic development”.

The aim of the Forum is to create conditions for common debate and intensification of cross-border cooperation of entrepreneurs from the EU member states and countries outside the EU, taking into account also the role which public administration can play in this process as well as enable establishing of direct economic contacts with foreign companies.

The Forum was opened by the Marshal of Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodship, Jacek Protas. Among the speakers were the representative of Ministry of Economy Jan Szustkiewicz, Deputy Minister of Finance Janusz Cichoń, Board President of Warmia-Mazury Special Economic Zone Marek Karólewski, Board President of Warmia and Mazury Regional Development Agency Bożena Cebulska, the Director of PKO Bank Polski S.A Bogdan Włodarczyk.

During the Forum took place a discussion about The attractiveness of the EU for neighboring countries in which participated: Helena Romanowa (the Representative of Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kaliningrad), Jan Filip Libicki (Polish Senator, Chairman of Parliamentary Team  Poland – Russia), Per Ole Petersen (President of Baltic Euroregion), Jarosław Czubiński (Polish Ambassador in Lithuania).

The participants had the opportunity to take part in two workshops: Food safety in the European Union’s policy and Low-carbon economy (increasing the energetic effectiveness and usage of renewable energy sources). There were also study visits to local companies. The guests had also a chance to familiarize themselves with the offer of business environment institutions operating in Warmia and Mazury and investment offer of Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship and other regions of Eastern Poland.

In the matchmaking session which was dedicated mainly to such trades as: food, wood processing and furniture production, construction services and manufacture of doors and windows, took part almost 100 entrepreneurs from Warminsko-Mazurskie Voivodship and abroad who conducted about 150 conversations. The B2B session was prepared by the team of Enterprise Europe Network and additional language support was assured by the students of English and Russian from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.

During the Forum there was a presentation of investment offers of Polish Business Environment Institutions such as Warmia-Mazury Special Economic Zone,  Suwałki Special Economic Zone - subzone in Ełk and Gołdap, Military Property Agency Department in Olsztyn, Warmia and Mazury Investor Service Centre - Certified Partner PAIiIZ 2010-2013 (WMRDA in Olsztyn) and municipalities from Warmia and Mazury.

5th Economic Forum of Baltic and Eastern Markets was implemented under the project "Establishment and development of Investor Assistance Centres network" co-financed by the European Union within the European Fund of Regional Development.
